Med'arte

Med'arte is an international and no-profit network of artistic / cultural dialogue that brings together different companies from the national and international territory and from outside the EU.

Med'arte aims to initiate mobility and collaboration between different members, contemporary dance institutes / companies.

"Med'arte" was born as a free and independent body. Med'arte's supporting partners conceive their action and function as "messengers" of contemporary art in the world, acting through the influence of the new trends that the language of dance has taken on in the history of Europe, with the aim of enhancing and to bring to Sardinia the avant-garde production that has developed in Europe and in the world.

Action / Sharing

The activity of the International Network focuses on the contemporary performing arts field, including relationships with the regions of Mediterranean culture.

Since 2008, a large number of regional activities and projects, dance festivals and dance platforms have been supported.

Production and creation and artistic distribution have been encouraged; the co-organization of professional training initiatives, advanced training courses and workshops and above all the hospitality and meeting of hundreds of artists and professionals of contemporary art.

"Mix" of the arts, contamination, demolition of disciplinary borders, languages that mix with each other, this is the opportunity that Med'arte wants to offer.

The network represents the incentive for multidisciplinarity, exchange, monitoring, support for creativity and artistic production, through hospitality, creative, urban and rural residences.

Creation of a guiding nucleus

Med'arte's work has its roots since 2008 on the occasion of the 1st edition of the festival in the Mediterranean basin: Cortoindanza - live choreography in short form.

From this moment on, a "guiding nucleus" is formed, acting as an artistic committee, which through many years of experience in the contemporary art field, identifies young emerging artists from all over the world, implementing the aggregation of the professionals of the arts, generating a moment of dialogue and exchange with Europe and the rest of the world.

Functions and roles of the partners

Identification of choreographers and emerging artists in territories in the national and international and non-European scene;

Diffusion of the project, in order to involve in the territory artists from different origins and cultures who bring different languages of contemporary art;

“Dramaturgical coaching” and monitoring of the artists engaged in residence and production in the host countries;

Sharing the different perspectives of creation / research and develop the performance and skills.

Technical and logistic assistance of the companies and the artists during the performances in the territories where the artists are hosted.

Territorial strategies

Med’arte is based on a cultural development strategy that combines art, entertainment and historical memory, as a fundamental instrument of cultural policy path, all within an overall territorial and cultural development plan.

Achieved results

Mobility of over "80 choreographic projects of the young author's dance, implementing artistic production for the development of contemporary art in Sardinia.

The network has opened an exchange dialogue with the following territories:

Italy, Portugal, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Ivory Coast, Scotland, West Africa, Denmark, Brazil, Tunisia, Egypt, Japan, Kazan (Russia), Armenia, Colombia, Germany, Israel.
